Is "Google about" sign of Google new era?

Few days ago, Google has started Google Search+.

I am not yet much familiar about what is real value of this service, but I noticed one big difference. In past I was  few times searching for any page of sort "About Google" and never found one.

With launch of Search+, the footer item named "About Google" is here.

Is this sign of some big change? To me, the message is clear, at least at Google they found enough reasons to make this historical step.
